I pulled two casts of the foo mask today, one really thick and one pretty thin. I'm gonna do it again to get something a little more in the middle. I'm behind schedule for all my costumes so I need to pick it up. Also, there is SO MUCH resin in the set I bought. And slush casts use so little :D I'm gonna make a couple more. I want something that's thick and durable but I don't want to dremel out 1/3 of what I used.

claws were a failure, so I'll probably go ahead and just cast them, too. much quicker than the other methods I tried. Foamies are still a possibility, but after working with the resin it's just too fun. and they can actually all be the same size this time.
And I still don't know what I'm wearing with the mask. I'll post concept sketches after work, maybe.

No shipping notification for Oscar wig yet, I don't want to make her sword until I know I'll be getting the wig on time. Still need breeches, leggings and shoes, shirt needs to be collared and hemmed.

I haven't heard back from Sapphire at MangoIsland yet, but I guess it'd be unfair to be mad. She's catching up with her stuff and there's other cons she's preparing for. I should have said something when I commished in the first place :/

working a lot this week. I think this is the last week I'll be getting a paycheck for before the con. After that I can take off all the time I need.

I need to cast this in some kind of plastic. Something lighter and stronger than sculpey (nothing practical about a sculpey mask)

I've been wanting to make one forever, sweet jesus. It isn't fully baked (hair dryer) because i'd like to remove the plastic base I built it on, first.
My dad is pretty good with materials and stuff like this, I'm sure we'll figure something eventualy. I only need one, so I can break a mold no problem. But I've got no experience casting anything at all, so this'll be tough. Don't even know if I'd be able to preserve the details at all.

I need more shirts. Actually, I need more pants, but fuck that i would like some t shirts.

yesterday I bought a laminator at BJ's for like $20. It seems to work pretty good, one sheet had some little bitty bubbles all over one part, but it looks to be okay. I need to get more pouches so I can get everything done and mail shit out. I need to go to office max for those (thicker stuff hopefully) and those lanyard badge clips. And envelopes.

Me and Tits are getting a table in the artist alley at Nekocon this year, so i wanted to know what goodies to bring.
I've never found prints to be appealing, because what the hell do you do with prints? if it's not mind-blowingly good art, or porn, it doesn't always sell too well. :I so we're coming up with wearable or useful things. like-

bottle cap charms. A little picture tag thing set in a bottlecap for a necklace or keyring. Custom and premade.

little leather things- bracelets, bracers, steampunky goodies. I've been playing around with leather scraps and they're just so pretty c:

masks. I like the foo masks Missmonster made and had with her at AC~ I'll design a few and see. Probably simpler, tribal masks, and some like them ninja masks or whatever from naruto or something.

any suggestions? I'll also do sketches and badges, but I'd rather have a bunch of ready-made crap so i don't have a pile of stuff to do at the con. besides, i think things like these would be more profitable.

So on one suggestion I started watching "The Rose of Versailles"- an anime that ran in the late 70's and early 80's. I didn't expect much because- well, i guess a lot of people shrug off old stuff like this. But hot damn, this is one of the best I've ever seen! I can't for the life of me find a working torrent, else I'd not be watching it on youtube :1

Cosplay was something I never really cared enough to do- admired, but there were really no characters I liked well enough to pay tons of money to dress up as. 18th century french uniforms? Yes please~ Oscar is fucking gar. She's a badass and this is the best anime I've seen since Gurren Lagann- nay, it may be the best I've ever seen. I don't know if it's disheartening or a welcome challenge to discover that there are pretty much literally no truely good Oscar cosplays out there. Totally not good for a beginner, but I'd love to do it sometime. Like, I'll get in shape so I can do the character justice. I haven't exercised in like 2 years, yet Oscar's paradoxical manliness motivates me to do so.

Enough whimpering like a fangirl- this anime is sexy, clever, complex, oh so historically inaccurate (you'll forgive it), and deliciously filled with slashy subtext (but not so overwhelming that, if you're not into that, it's impossible to watch), and what's more- it's SAD. I looo~oove sad stories. Granted, like pretty much all anime it makes liberal use of the same animator's tricks and excessive bishie sparkles- but anyone that's watched a girly anime will know you eventually get used to it.

And that just about covers my anime review of the year (quite; I rarely find a good one worth talking about). The world needs more good stuff like this :c Granted it might not be everyone's cup of tea but it tickles my fancy~

Friday i suited in my ever so thugly bully (first EVER suiting adventure- unfortunately no video or pics yet :/ still looking. none of my friends got any more me, hah), it got quite hot in the hoodie and jeans. Investing in under armor for next time. Oh, and I have my heart set on a fullsuit for nekocon. That foo dog design? Gonna tweak it some but same idea.
Saturday I spent most of the day working on arcanine. Ultimately the feet were no good (pants weren't baggy enough) so I wore shoes, probably a good descision. I used ALL of the glowsticks i brought, save for most of the orange ones, which apparently won't work after sitting in the hot trunk for two days. I don't think any pics were taken (i didn't notice anyway). I got a few compliments, one singular use of "yiff", but the reaction was positive :)

I'm going to learn how to dance this summer. Jumpstyle, shuffle, and some hiphop type dances. The rave was just awesome. I wore arcanine with my glowsticks and pimp hat.

However most on the fun came after. We stayed at the embassy suites adjoining the convention center, and everything was still active at 2 am. The peoplewatching is CHOICE. We were on the 9th floor and could see everything. Busted out a camera and just went at it. There was a toga party on the floor below us, and they took over the elevators. They moved the plants from the floors into them and danced on each floor. We joined them. fun videos later :) there was a rape party opposite us on our floor. They gave us a show. Vids of that too. Some guy walked out and over and offered us some drink, but i didn't want his roofie alc' so we sent him off. We'd talked to the others the room previously. Oh yeah, we made a friend. He just came over and we started talking, and later when hotel security made a move we let him chill in our room. Apparently we saw him at the rave, but I was blind so not really.

Saw a handful of furries, only one other costume though. Some fellow named Stripeywolf had a nice partial (buy DHC!). There were others i don't remember the names of, unfortunately.

But yeah, on the lookout for pictures. The Pawstar booth took one I'd like to see, but there weren't many I was asked to pose for.
Hoping to put both up for sale this week, after they've been given some cleaning~

rushing to get some last minute stuff done, then gotta finish packing. Bully is done, arcanine just needs finishing (lots of sewing) and the wouth and eyes need installing.

I spent $7 at the thrift store and got some huge bro jeans for the bully, and some sweet dance pants (these, i did not expect to find). I also found some timbalands but I don't want a pair of shoes i'd wear once for like $13. I have the vans I'm wearing to the rave, I'll just settle for that. Or some of my dad's shoes if he left anything. If they're in choad island there's not much to be done.
Apparently the salvation army does not support hoods. I couldn't find anything with a hood on it. I want a big black man hoodie (since I'm pretty sure gangstas don't wear Oneill- the only big man hoodie i have.), and a women's running jacket sort of thing. oh well :/
I went all the way to party city yesterday and cheaped out. They had some sweet thug glasses, freaking huge lenses, white rim- perfect, but too pricey. Nobody else has anything like it at all. so I gotta go back :c

comicgenesis is a huge pain. I swear, this thing is murphy's law incarnate. If it's not one thing it's another. I don't have the knowlege to use this effectively. As much as I'd LOVE to be able to use the damn thing, I can't get it to work! case sensitivity, firewall, ftp client- everything is in order, I checked and double checked! I don't care! DF is doomed to live on FA forever.

I can code my own damn website. Anyone recommend a web host? I want to put a website together and host it there. Or just a decent comic host, made for the mentally incompetent, not the internet savvy.

built it up as planned and modified it a little to some suggestions. Building it with the long fur I'm gonna use in mind. Most of it is probably going to be at full length, but the muzzle itself will be shaved down. Building a ridge up the head to make the fur look a bit longer and more mane-like.

Joannes has fleece on sale at 5 bucks a yard, as opposed to almost twice that at regular price. I should get the much needed cash on tuesday, so I can order the black and orange I'll need for this and for a Houndour for my brother~

apparently I have no problem using crazy colors on foos but all the trouble in the world when it comes to stupid dogfox things. Might be moving in this direction as far as the "sparkledog" rave suit. This is just turning into a... blinding colors rave suit...
